It's Our Show Again This Year

Well, I decided to continue homeschooling without a cyber charter after all. I will consider utilizing one later, if Kev decides to go back to PS for a diploma. After having our first evaluation process completed and meeting with the Super at our school district, I came away with a feeling that I accomplished more than I thought I would and it really wasn't very bad at all....meeting all of the requirements the great state of PA puts on homeschooling families :-

Another reason I shy'd away from the cyber charters this year is because of the funding dispute going on right now in PA between school districts and charters. The districts are claiming that the charters are bleeding them of funds and are trying to enact legislation that reduces the amount of money districts have to pay out to charters per student. This is a ridiculous notion considering it costs the school districts less, on average, to pay the charters to educate that child than it would to keep the child in-house and educate them within the bricks and mortar. This can potentially cause some of the cyber charters to go belly-up due to lack of funds. I really didn't want to have that looming overhead in the middle of a school year. So we'll wait for the smoke to clear first.
